space4art intervention is an exhibition series of the art associations Düsseldorf-Palermo and 701 in cooperation with HPP Architekten. It is designed for the publicly accessible and unroofed inner courtyard of the new HPP workspace in Düsseldorf's Medienhafen, which will in future provide a venue for cultural activities and exhibitions. The artistic positions shown are intended as deliberate interventions and are developed specifically for the location.

For the second ‘space4art intervention’, Josef Ribaudo is developing a sculptural installation for the courtyard that takes as its theme the artist’s exploration of the movement of plants in their life cycle. The project “Apicale” deals with the horizontal growth of plants caused by complete weightlessness. After last year’s first exhibition with Isabella Fürnkäs and her sculptural outdoor installation Unpredictable Liars Revolt was accompanied by Kunstverein 701, this year’s installation Apicale will be shown by Kunstverein Düsseldorf-Palermo.

Josef Ribaudo was born in Palermo in 1997, lives and works in Villafrati, studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. His artistic research focuses on the natural world and on the contrast between its pristine elements and the artificial world. The works are wood assemblages mixed with resins, PVC and iron.
